Before a child can speak, understand, or learn, they must be able to tune in. Attention and listening underpin all areas of development, including play, language, emotional regulation, and academic achievement.

5. Play attention games: Try “Simon Says,” “Ready, Steady, Go,” or “Guess the Sound.”

7. Build up stamina: Gradually increase the length of listening tasks.
   
   
   
8. Model good listening: Show your own focus when they speak, children mirror adult behaviour.
